Title: Stoneman Douglas High School: Lessons Learned

On February 14, 2018, 17 lives were lost in Parkland, Florida in one of the deadliest school shootings in history. A former Secret Service agent reviews the timeline, starting when the shooter enters the campus, and tracks his movements inside the school, until he escapes by blending in with students. His first-hand account starts a discussion about how school staff and law enforcement responded to include command and control issues, and how communications, training, site security, and first responder policies played critical roles. Through this tragedy, learn how to apply best practices to protect other venues. Participate in a Q&A session focusing on a public safety commission’s key findings and recommendations.

Session Number: 4204

Type: Case Study
